"The 3 Most Frequently Made Mistakes When Choosing a Wedding Photographer"

Mistake #1 - Choosing Only by Price

The best way to shop for a wedding photographer is by seeing the quality offered, not simply a low price. Value comes from being comfortable in knowing what you are getting and in being confident with your decision. The photographers’ experience should show quickly and easily. He/she should project a confident image, have solid photography ability and experience, and use professional equipment. The quality in what you will be purchasing should be obvious.

Mistake #2 – Not Asking for Testimonials

There are always a lot of photographers that think they are good enough to be a wedding photographer and so they make that claim. They bring their camera to friends’ weddings that didn’t have the money to hire a professional, take a bunch of photos, make a sample album and say they are in business. They may even get away with it for a while. Is that who you want to hire? Consider hiring a photographer with experience who knows what they are doing. Ask for a list of referrals.

Mistake #3 – Not Scheduling a Pre-Wedding Planning Session

It's easy to be impressed with a few photographs on the Internet, or be swayed by a friend’s referral to decide on a wedding photographer. If you think that all you need to do is simply send out a check and wait for your wedding day for it all to fall into place, think again. Your chosen photographer should always recommend a planning session. It shows their commitment that your wedding day goes the way you want and that they are open to your ideas. There are just too many details to discuss (such as how to handle divorced parents) that are simply too important not to sit down and discuss before the wedding.
